Repurposing your blog content the right way

There’s always that day or season your mind hits rock bottom and you cant write anything home. Ever thought of repurposing your content?

Repurposing content basically involves taking the existing content that has been already p[published then refreshed and given a new look. This is common with news releases that most media use to make their content unique despite having received it from the same source. For instance, a topic like Coronavirus infection hike in Kenya. We can have someone pick a single location like Nairobi and talk about its covid situation and someone else picks the same topic and rewrites it into example” the current covid-19 situation in Kenya,

This is a single topic, revolutionalized into different approaches for different audiences. Repurposing content works the same way. Repurposing almost feels like giving an old building a facelift, it’s the same building but the new look gives it a shine and makes it a point of attention.

So how can you repurpose blog content the right way?

By repurposing it doesn’t, mean you copy someone’s content and post it as yours. It involves all the right channels. If you are taking someone’s content remember to tag them or give them a mention or backlink their site on your text.

I’m a huge fan of repurposing content and here’s why I’m recommending it.

A blog/ website is like a mountain in real life. The moment we keep on adding a fresh layer of content, you keep on adding it on the old ones and however much great they were. Nobody will open the layers to just review the past. Your original piece of content may have only made a splash with a group of customers. Repurposing your content for different channels allows you to connect with a larger audience.

This is where repurposing comes in. Annah Hrach, in her comment on repurposing content, says, ” Contrary to popular belief, content isn’t free. It’s actually quite expensive to create. It takes a lot of time and costs a lot of money, and those are things that not every marketing department or brand has excess amounts of and repurposing is absolutely an easier way to maximize the existing investments. “

Another thing with repurposing content is SEO boost. It doesn’t really skyrocket the numbers but it guarantees better results Multiple pieces of articles around the same topic ideally generate additional opportunities to get the desired keyword.

I’ve been a huge fan of the singleton series and reading something similar to it would be a triumph. You see, it involves stories that you’ve heard or read before but since it’s in a series format. We keep on anticipating the next phase because of the tactical tips in the series set.

Apply the Hub-and-Spoke method

This involves writing follow-ups, new facts or quick summaries that give detailed explanations on the previous stories you have shared and link them back to the main post. This is common with product launches where we have the announcement, the launch and then the product review. For such stories, you can link them together as each section gives details of the other for an easier connection.

Refresh old content

Repurposing your content doesn’t have to be a break an arm or leg process. You can as well select the most successful content you’ve shared before with your audience by writing detailed tutorials or tips to expand on o your previous content.
